Greetings!

Fall is here, the days are shorter, the nights are longer and the economy is walking a tight rope but we prevail! In this letter, we recap our October 9th event, discuss SWOT initiatives, the cost savings of going green and take a look at our historic election!  Here at eRichards, we continue to be busy and optimistic. As many of you know, eRichards Consulting held an event on October 9th to discuss profiting from the web channel.  The turnout was excellent!
 
We covered Web Channel Basics, Growth Drivers, Syndication and SEO and ended with insights on lessons learned from working with numerous different clients. 
 
It is required that a company aligns the core business initiatives with their growth drivers and invest in solutions that maps those growth drivers.  In some cases, you will have to modify your business model to bridge the gap between opportunity through the Web and what you are currently doing.

Attendees ranked themselves across a continuum from innovators to "static" firms that resist change.  Interestingly enough, many people would fall under one category personally, another professionally and a third in terms of the business for which they work.  This gap was insightful in understanding the perceived value of change.

History is Made
November 4, 2008
 
"We are not enemies, but friends" poignant words first spoken by President Lincoln and reiterated by President-Elect Barack Obama during his acceptance speech in Chicago following the Presidential Election.  Giving people everywhere hope of a new America to be united; through transformable change.  Obama's breakthrough, in winning the election, will go down as one fo the most influential days in the history of our United States of America.
 
He is destined to lead on a variety of different levels whether they are through his desire to seek peace and security, or applying unyielding hope for democracy, liberty, and oppotunity for all.  He deomonstrated his appreciation by thanking his campaign staff, his running mate, his opponnets, and his family.  John McCain graciously pledged to do all in his power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.
 
Like any good leader, Obama set the stage for universal setbacks and challenges.  However, he also vocalized the need for patience as we all work and strive to succeed both on a national level, but also a more personal level.  We can take his ideals and apply them to our daily lives as leaders of businesses, families, clubs and organizations, but most importantly as leaders of change and development.

There was once a time when people fought to have nutritional information printed on the packaging of food products.  Can the same be said for the future of technology as far as the environmental impact of products is concerned?  
 
Money in all industries can be saved and made by going green.  Green initiatives became mainstream issues in 2007 when certain industries started to fail, primarily the automotive industry. However, the technology industry needs to start eliminating waste associated with technology budgets, power, cooling, and recycling.  General consensus still stands that the risk of staying the same is greater than the change.  
 
Listing the environmental impact of products could help companies who can market based on environmentally sound products.  Customers will appreciate the change and buy the products of a company practicing good corporate social responsibility.  Peer pressure can be effective in motivating competitors to go green as well.  The supply chain will also be in motion forcing vendors to reinvent the wheel and change their products to be more "green" friendly.
